Custom Pendant Light for Sydney's Tallest Office Tower

Sydney’s tallest office building towers above spaces for retail and community experiences in the Lendlease Sydney Place precinct at 180 George St. Alkimi Studio designed the premium office suites, creating connected spaces for fostering collaboration and wellbeing. Di Emme came on board to create the impressive pendant light for the suites on level 33.

The light is a series of six rings, ranging from 1.5m to 4m wide, with aluminium housings surrounding opal acrylic diffusers. Three of the pendant lights shine inwards and three downwards. The acrylic in the downward-facing rings was laser cut to fit in place, while the acrylic diffuser for the inward-facing light rings required heating to slump the material to fit it to the curve.

Di Emme provided the set out for the hangers and electrics, and an electrician ensured everything was in place months prior to installation. The cables were coiled out of the way till needed.

The smaller rings were hung complete, but the larger rings had to be built in segments made to fit perfectly into the tower lift. The Di Emme team assembled the large rings on site, joining the segments of the frames and the LEDs ready for the electrician to raise into place.
